I’ve been making over four spaces in my home over the course of four weeks, using just $100 from Target and GE reveal® LED light bulbs. I’ve also had a total of $4000 in Target gift cards and plenty of GE reveal® lighting to give away so that each week, 10 readers win everything they need for their own #100reveal makeovers! The rules and information are at the bottom of this post, so be sure to enter.
This week, I’m working on my work space. I had some difficulty while pregnant with my third baby but I still had to work at my computer, so to limit my going up and down stairs, Brandon helped set up my desk in our bedroom. It was supposed to be a temporary solution, but Calvin is five months old already and I’m still working from the same spot! It was a bit of surprise, how much I would love working here.
Since I see my desk all the time, I figured it was about time I spruced it up a bit. The task lighting needed to be addressed, and I knew I could pick up a handful of things from Target with my $100 makeover budget that would help my cluttered desktop and drawer.
You can see how I put everything to use and the difference that GE reveal® bulbs made in this week’s #100reveal video.
The drawer needed a lot of help. I know some people are OK with an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ mess, but that kind of thing drives me crazy! I’m far from being neat all the time, but I do like my drawers, cabinets, and closets to be tidy. I picked up a jewelry organizer that fit perfectly inside the desk and separated everything into compartments.
Just about everything that was in the drawer was put back, the only exception being the printer ink refills which went in one of the nesting boxes I picked up at Target.
The room is flooded with beautiful light during the day, but it was less lovely when the sun went down. We rely on lamps in the bedroom rather than overhead lighting, but the bulbs cast a yellow tint that turned our blue/gray walls green. Switching them to GE reveal® LED bulbs kept the colors true and the room instantly looked better.
I can get pretty hungry throughout the day since I’m nursing, so I’ve been keeping chocolate covered almonds at my desk (yum!). The container isn’t so nice to look at though, so I tucked it inside another of the nesting boxes I picked up. I keep water nearby too, and the occasional cup of coffee.
My desk wasn’t terrible before, but it’s much better now with a little organization and a lighting upgrade.

March 3, 2015 at 1:11 pm#100reveal. My husband and I share a home office. It’s a spare bedroom in our house and it has not been painted or redone since we moved in. It’s just a blank, dark, ugly, uninspiring space with a desk tossed in and ugly mini-blinds. A redo would help with work and with couple relations!! #100reveal

March 3, 2015 at 1:59 pmMy home workspace is tucked in at the foot of my bed — the only space in the house for it! Since the table I use now has no drawers, I would love some help with organization, like nesting + paper boxes, and pen/doodad trays. Also, my current lightbulb + Lamp combo is atrocious — overly bright and jarring — so to be able to replace both the lamp and the lightbulb with a #100reveal GE reveal lightbulb would be so incredibly amazing! So, in other words, please pick me!!

March 3, 2015 at 3:13 pmOh I could REALLY use this #100reveal. My current workspace is in an unfinished basement – the walls are missing the sheetrock, so we just have white plastic up to hide the insulation. Hardly inspiring! I also don’t have much lighting so I’d LOVE to get some new lamps along with the bulbs so I can finally see what I’m working on!

March 3, 2015 at 3:17 pmWhat space *wouldn’t* I use my #100reveal on? We moved into our house a little over a year ago, but there’s so much to do, and we don’t have a lot of money, so a Target giftcard would be perfect!

Great updates! I’d love to update my workspace at home. It’s a small corner of the living room, but it over looks a window so it’s nice to have some light and outdoor views while ruminating. But it’s in desperate need of organization. And also some other visual interest when it’s cold and dreary out and you need something else to gaze at for inspiration or a pick-me-up.

March 3, 2015 at 5:28 pmWe’ll soon be renovating our back porch/mud room and I’d like to carve out a lite nook for my fiber and yarn– hoping to one day start a business when my youngest starts school. March 3, 2015 at 6:32 pmMy husband’s job just relocated over 70 miles from our home. He is fortunate to be able to work from home a few days a week. We do have a home office space, but it is in no shape for an actual day’s worth of work. It would be so lovely to be able to surprise him with a #100reveal to help perk him up and help him make the space more suitable.

March 3, 2015 at 6:57 pmI work at home a few times a week. We’re moving soon, and I will finally have a dedicated office! I’ve been working on my lap for 7+ years on home office days. I would use the #100reveal to create a nook that keeps me focused and also doubles as a place to work on craft projects. I’d keep it all calm and serene so my work will shine through (with the help of some GE reveal bulbs!): white pencils housed in a white mug, lucite chair, threshold cream throw in case it gets chilly, acrylic desk organizer (I, too, like organized insides), and probably some gold trinket for eye candy.
Kate
March 3, 2015 at 7:10 pmJust like you Nicole, my desk is in my bedroom! I’d love to use #100reveal to bring in additional task lighting to my space, and hopefully some stylish organizers to help tackle my ever-mounting piles of paper!

March 3, 2015 at 7:37 pmI’ve been redoing my home office too. It’s such a critical space for getting work done but it also ends up being a dumping ground for “dealing with it later.”
Lighting plays a really important part in all of my house because it’s a dark house. I have an astigmatism so I find that the natural light bulbs make ALL the difference in helping me see around the dark house. Seriously, the difference is night and day (see what I did there? but it’s true). The natural light bulbs also help it look more like natural light is coming in the windows. So much nicer than regular bulbs. I’m already a big user of the natural light bulbs.
