The stairs in this house don’t make it easy to get anything large up to the second floor. A traditional spring mattress? Only if it’s a twin size. Anything larger and it needs to be foam so it can round the corner on its way up. A mattress that arrives magically compressed into a box that’s smaller than me? Ideal.
Leesa ships their mattresses, for free, rolled up in a box that makes it easy to transport. The mattresses are made in America, with three foam layers: the bottom is dense foam for support, with a 2″ layer of memory foam in the middle that contours to the body, and then a 2″ layer of Avena® (similar to latex) that adds bounce and keeps the mattress from feeling too hot.
Because they’re a direct-to-consumer company, they can offer lower prices than brands typically bought through nationwide showrooms. Yep, this means that you’re buying a mattress online without ever having slept on it, but they offer a 100 night risk-free trial period. If you don’t like it, they’ll arrange for the mattress to be picked up and recycled or donated. Leesa also has a charitable component to their business; for every 10 mattresses they sell, one is donated to a homeless shelter or others in need.
I was easily able to get a king-sized Leesa mattress setup by myself. Gif time! Enjoy.
* A few people have asked about the box spring in the comments, so I thought I’d better add the info to the post itself. It’s actually just a foundation (no springs), it is indeed one piece, and I had to build it in the room. It’s not needed for the mattress, but it is necessary for the bed I ordered. *
I like shopping for bedding — looking for colors and patterns that will mix well with the linens we already have, and giving the bedroom a little update every time I swap out the sheets or change the throw pillows. Heading out to go mattress shopping though? Not so fun. Being able to order a luxury mattress online is so much nicer.
If you’re in the market for a new mattress and want to go with Leesa, the first 30 readers to redeem promo code MAKINGITLOVELY at checkout will get $75 off.

September 23, 2015 at 10:35 amI had to build it in the room! If we ever move, I’ll have to take it apart.

September 23, 2015 at 10:55 amI love the stripes, also! It’s all in the details. :]

September 23, 2015 at 11:39 amWhere did you get the box spring?
Making it Lovely
September 23, 2015 at 11:47 amIt’s a foundation, not a box spring (just wood slats — no springs). I ordered it from Amazon: Classic Brands Instant Foundation.
The wood is rough, but it all gets covered up once it’s done. Our old bed was platform with metal slats, but the new one requires a box spring or foundation.

September 23, 2015 at 12:13 pmThat’s awesome how easy it is to set up.
I love the soft pink of your bedding against the grey-blue of the walls. I’m about to change a boy nursery to a girl nursery and the walls are about that color already–I’m hoping to not repaint–definitely using this as an inspiration photo. ;) Thanks.

September 23, 2015 at 1:52 pmNicole I know you possess myriad talents but I must commend you on your speedy setup of your new wonderful bed. The thing went so fast I could barely spot you in a blur of motion-cute and very funny! You will love a king size if you have never had one
Are you looking forward to Fall? I can’t wait for the leaves to turn and finally a break in our Virginia heat.

September 23, 2015 at 11:59 pmSo how does it feel? We’ve been considering one like this, but wondering if it will be comfortable.

September 24, 2015 at 5:26 pmI’m not in the market for a new mattress, but when you described it as luxury I was expecting a much higher price (and thought the $75 would be a blip on the price tag radar). This mattress is way (WAY) more affordable than the mattress & box spring I bought on sale at Macy’s a few years ago. They say mattresses should be swapped out every 8 years. Please be sure to tell us how you enjoy it after you’ve slept on it awhile.
Once baby Calvin graduates to a twin, do you think you’ll get him a Leesa mattress too?

September 24, 2015 at 8:48 pmHi. The big question is how comfortable is the mattress? I am considering getting one and would appreciate your honest feedback. Thanks.

September 28, 2015 at 9:45 amI agree…strange to post about getting a mattress and endorsing it without mentioning how comfortable it is. All this post really does for the company you’re repping is tell us it’s easy to get up the stairs.

September 25, 2015 at 7:52 amHow does Leesa compare to the other boxed foam mattresses (Casper, Tuft & Needle)?

September 29, 2015 at 1:10 pmI’m with Kelly. Would really love to know what you guys think about how it sleeps. I’m in the market for both a full and a queen size. Mainly a side-sleeper, but with my crappy mattress i’m more of a rotisserie chicken at the moment and achy and sore to boot!

October 24, 2015 at 6:36 pmIt’s been about a month since this post — how do you like the foundation and mattress? We’re in the market…. :)

December 1, 2015 at 10:30 amI would like to know too, how do you like it now a few months later?

December 1, 2015 at 10:32 amHow do you like it now? We’re in the market for a new mattress and my boyfriend just sent me this one!
