A few people asked yesterday if I still managed to get a shower each day. Yes, with very much the same setup as before.

May 25, 2011 at 10:14 amVery cool! But what do you do with Elanor? I’m sure she can’t be left unsupervised while you are in the shower/getting ready…
Making it Lovely
May 25, 2011 at 10:17 amOften I’m up and in the shower before she wakes up. If she’s up and it’s early enough that Brandon is still home, he watches her. If we all sleep in a little (not likely) and Brandon has to leave for work, Eleanor plays with her toys in the bathroom next to August.

May 25, 2011 at 10:25 amThat sounds like a good system. I have often wondered how moms with two young children get ready for the day!

May 25, 2011 at 10:24 amIt’s so hard for me in the morning to decide if I want extra blog time or shower time *sigh* being an honest person it’s about half and half lol

May 25, 2011 at 10:24 amI did the same thing with Ella. Only I also used her high chair sometimes.

May 25, 2011 at 10:45 amAww, I remember those days…And I can’t believe how much your son looks like his sister in that first picture! I would love to get up and jump in the shower, too, (SAHM of 3, here), but I try to fit in exercise first, so I usually don’t shower until noon…
Alison
May 25, 2011 at 10:54 amI can’t believe how much alike they look…I really thought it was the same baby… :)
Laura
May 25, 2011 at 10:58 amHe is adorable! Is it the lighting or is he a red-head? I hope for the latter! Either way, he’s very cute.
Making it Lovely
May 25, 2011 at 11:13 amYes, we think he’s going to have reddish hair! It’s hard to tell though if that’s the hair he’s keeping or if it’s still falling out.

May 25, 2011 at 11:06 amgood to know it’s possible to take showers after having babies!
I love Eleanor’s “whatchu lookin at??” face.
Lisa
May 25, 2011 at 11:07 amNerdy question – but where did you get your bouncy seat? Or…who makes it? I love that it’s not over the top “baby”. Good system!
Making it Lovely
May 25, 2011 at 11:12 amIt was a hand-me-down from Brandon’s sister. It’s by Fisher Price.
Lisa
May 25, 2011 at 11:12 amwhew – you’re fast! thanks!
Nicole
May 25, 2011 at 12:31 pmI bought one in 2006/2007 at Target. Maybe they have something similar now?

May 25, 2011 at 11:18 am*lol* I lay my little one on a towel on the floor and she happily kicks away while I shower. Love that babies love listening to the sound of a shower!

May 25, 2011 at 11:24 amI haven’t commented before, but I just have to say – I love your blog! And I don’t have kids yet, but when/if I do, you’ve given me great ideas. Thanks so much!

May 25, 2011 at 11:36 ami used to do that, too! or i would take a bath and set my son up in his bouncer while i bathed and sang to him. whatever works! i was clean every day and as a new mom, that was great!

May 25, 2011 at 11:43 amI did the same thing with my first and plan to do it again when baby girl arrives in September. Although my son will probably want to be in the shower with me instead of playing nicely next to the baby.
Love their expressions and the stripes! Too cute.

May 25, 2011 at 9:30 pmSometimes Eleanor hops in the shower with me too.

May 25, 2011 at 11:52 amOMG…that’s exactly how I did it! Though, my daughter didn’t want to have anything to do with the boucy seat…so she just cried in her crib while I showered (hey, sometimes…they just gotta cry). But my son would sing and coo and babble away while I got clean…:)

May 25, 2011 at 12:03 pmWow, he looks just like you!

May 25, 2011 at 12:08 pmI did the same thing when he was little. Now he’s 5, and I try to shower before he wakes up. Otherwise, he showers with me. If he’s awake, and doesn’t want to shower, I just sit him in front of the tv with his favorite show, and shower as quickly as possible. Excessive television is a bad thing, but it’s a good thing for a short time. It allows mom to get something done.

May 25, 2011 at 9:31 pmAgreed. E doesn’t watch TV everyday, but there are times when it’s very helpful.

May 25, 2011 at 12:46 pmI am a working mom, who is away from my babe for 11 hours, 4 days a week. I try to spend as much time as possible with my 2yr old little girl, so we shower or take a bath together every night. That has been our routine since she was 3 months.
Making it Lovely
May 25, 2011 at 9:31 pmThat’s sweet.
Julia
May 25, 2011 at 1:15 pmmine are 20 months apart and I did the same thing! And once our son was a little older I knew he’d be okay watching elmo or clifford for 8 minutes while I took a shower!
Shayla
May 25, 2011 at 1:42 pm1. I LOVE your blog
2. I just gave birth to a baby boy in April, who we also named August!
3. This is exactly how I get a shower in everyday. I also leave the water running while I get dressed. Its not very eco-friendly I know… but I get dressed really fast!!!

May 25, 2011 at 1:46 pmI think both of your children have very easy temperament. This trick does not work for all babies, some babies want to be held at all times. For some parents even using a bathroom could be luxury :-)
Joy
May 25, 2011 at 3:56 pm:) That’s my experience. Hannah is almost two now and I still have to shower while she’s napping or after she’s in bed.

May 25, 2011 at 9:32 pmYou’re right, I do have very easygoing kids.

May 25, 2011 at 2:08 pmI love that August is wearing pink (and brown)!

May 25, 2011 at 2:37 pmWhen I first saw those 2 pics, I thought they were both the same baby!!!!!
I remember those days of “what to do with the kids when i need to take a shower”….ugggg

May 25, 2011 at 2:45 pmI thought I was the only one who did this! I love knowing there are other mother’s that are showering and attempting to keep a baby happy at the same time! Motherhood is all about multi-tasking…
Kate
May 25, 2011 at 2:47 pmI used to do the same thing! BUt what I really want to know is where did you get that shower curtain? Did you make it? Love it!
Making it Lovely
May 25, 2011 at 9:33 pmIt was from Bed, Bath & Beyond, by Waverly, but I got it years ago.

May 25, 2011 at 2:52 pmWe had the same bouncy seat! Awe brings back nice baby memories!
JLR
May 25, 2011 at 5:27 pmHe looks like his sister in the top photo – cute!
I used a johnny jump up in the bathroom doorway to shower – worked great.
Anna
May 25, 2011 at 6:58 pmI love the rompers they are both wearing – are you able to give us a heads up on where to buy similar?
Making it Lovely
May 25, 2011 at 9:33 pmThey were both from Target, from when Eleanor was a baby.

May 25, 2011 at 9:29 pmI love it! I have a similar picture, my baby in the bouncer, and 2 toddlers peeking in the door from outside. I leave the door open to the outside so I can hear them while I’m in the shower. Crazy how a mom has to get just a basic shower in! :)
christy
May 25, 2011 at 10:31 pmI do the same thing. and the sound of a hairdryer will shut her up -the baby that is-faster than anything when she’s fussy! My 3yo is either playing in the bathroom w us or watching sesame street.
Leenie
May 25, 2011 at 11:14 pmWhat a sweetheart. He needs to come teach my kid a thing or two about how to be a rockstar in the bouncer during mommy’s shower time!

May 26, 2011 at 7:27 amAugust is adorable!

May 26, 2011 at 8:25 ami immediately thought “wow..august looks just like eleanor! :)” then i saw his pic..and said..”oh thats not him..its her..but man! they look lots alike!”
i love easy going children…my son was the same way…bounce seat in the doorway of the bathroom every single morning…it was really nice..and when he got older..we’d play peek-a-boo…
:)

May 26, 2011 at 9:07 amI was scanning your post and I saw the first baby photo and thought, ‘wow, your boy looks EXACTLY like Eleanor’. Then I saw it WAS Eleanor! LOL!

May 26, 2011 at 1:10 pmSame here! Then I started reading the comments just to see how many other people made the same mistake, and there are a few!

May 26, 2011 at 9:09 amNicole love your blog and your family is soooo cute.
I commented yesterday, I said I was a working mom but I should have said that, I am a work outside the home mom. All moms are working moms. I’m sorry and I did not mean to offend anyone.:)

May 26, 2011 at 9:16 amThis cracks me up! We have that EXACT same bouncy in our bathroom! It’s a lifesaver!
Nolita
May 26, 2011 at 11:46 amAugust looks just like you in the bottom picture. Love pics of babies with perturbed looks too! Too cute!

May 29, 2011 at 2:24 amThe only way I could get a shower when my son was an infant! Yay for hand-me-downs! It’s always smart to go for the gender neutral items. I may not be able to control myself though if I have a girl since my first (and only) is a boy… I just may go pink/ruffle crazy!
