3 New Low-Cost High-Design Pieces from IKEA

The latest IKEA catalog has arrived, and there were several standout items (hello, gold flatware!). There were also three pieces that I loved, that reminded me of much pricier options I’ve seen on the market. These aren’t copies, dupes, or knockoffs, but rather stylish options for a similar modern look at a lower price. Nice!

IKEA ODGER

This is not on their site yet, but IKEA released a video about the design and sustainable materials involved (embedded below). If you like the simplified silhouette and curves of Muuto’s Nerd chair, this is a great budget-friendly option.

IKEA FÄRLÖV

I was a fan of the Stockholm sofa from a few years ago (now discontinued), and our Kivik has held up great, but I think this might be my favorite IKEA sofa design yet! Skirted upholstery has been rising in popularity over the last several years, so this feels on trend, but still classic, much like Restoration Hardware’s slipcovered classic slope arm collection. Also very similar to the sofa featured in this past edition of Making it Yours.

IKEA VEDBO

Such a great, modern armchair! Similar in feel to Blu Dot’s Field Lounge Chair, and the classic Saarinen Womb Chair, but only a few hundred dollars. Painting the wooden legs would be a fun way to customize it.

I have the farlov sectional and I love it. I’ve had my eyes on that restoration hardware sofa for years but just couldnt pull the plug since i have kids and animals (specially a cat who loves to claw sofas).
I saw this and they were having a sofa sale and snapped it up. I couldn’t be happier, it’s as deep as a twin bed, slipcovered, and it’s chic.

Side note: I can’t wait till the odger is stocked at my store, Im hoping they’re comfortable enough to replace my dining chairs.

    (Gosh, I love Ikea!)

If you don’t mind me asking, has your cat been scratching the sofa? Mine use anything that isn’t performance velvet as a scratching post but I would love, love love this sectional! Many thanks for any feline insight you could offer!

We actually tried the soft paws to cover her nails – and while they help she really hasn’t tried to attack the couch like she did my petrie sofa. It should be noted that since we’ve purchased it, she has made this thing her home. She sleeps on it day and night. I guess shes too busy snoozing to scratch? I hope you have the same luck
